To date, the Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by FOOD & WINE has raised approximately $20 million in support of the educational programs at Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management.

A significant amount of the funds raised from the Festival is allocated to a construction project to expand school’s educational facilities and infrastructure. Most recently, the Chaplin School has completed construction of a 140-seat restaurant management laboratory and brew science laboratory. Both of these state-of-the-art facilities will strengthen the school’s growing research in food, wine, beer and spirits and will sharpen its focus on building students’ advanced management skills. The Wine Spectator Restaurant Management Laboratory, as it was named thanks to a generous gift from Wine Spectator, creates a new benchmark in restaurant management instructional technology.

Additional funds are awarded as scholarships to students who demonstrate exceptional performance while volunteering in all facets of the Festival.

Other revenue from the Festival is invested to support beverage management programs and maintenance of the Southern Wine & Spirits Beverage Management Center, a 4,500 square-foot facility that features the latest technology for beverage tasting and analysis.

In addition, student-volunteers benefit greatly in many other areas from this unique opportunity available at FIU. They receive priceless experience as they work alongside some of the most celebrated chefs and wine personalities in the world, and gain insight into all aspects of event planning, logistics, operations, public relations and marketing, while helping to organize this world-class event.
