Danny and Stephanie Diaz
Danny Diaz (29) and Stephanie Diaz-Perez (27) co-own their family owned & operated bakeshop, Sweetness Bakeshop, one of South Florida’s most popular dessert shops.
With no formal training, the Diaz siblings gained their experience from their mother, a stay-at-home mom who was always baking up something new. As kids, domination in the kitchen was questionable, Danny would antagonize Stephanie, and Stephanie would strike back with a temper and whip for a mouth, all hell would break loose with flying ingredients, wooden spoons, whisks anything close by. Through the years, not much has changed in the Diaz’ kitchen, sibling rivalry is still the driving force between the brother and sister team, and their need to outdo each other. The kitchen has turned into a 4,600 sq ft. production facility in Doral, where the brother and sister team oversee production for their retail bakeries as well as wholesale clients.
The Diaz family opened Sweetness Bake Shop in March of 2010 in South Miami, in December of 2010, Sugar Rush, South Florida’s first dessert truck was born, and in July 2013, a second Sweetness Bakeshop opened in Hialeah. Signature desserts such as Maple Bacon Cupcakes, Guava & Passion Fruit Flan, and Key Lime Dessert Shots support an ever-changing menu that also includes limited-edition & seasonal flavors.
Sweetness has been acclaimed by Food and Wine Magazine as having one of the Nation’s Best New Cupcakes, as well as named Miami’s Best Bakery by the Miami New Times.
